After a few failed attempts at chocolate chip cookies (they spread out and get stuck to the pan), my cookie confidence is boosted after this recipe!
There's a few types of recipes claiming to be famous amos choc chip cookies, and I tried the one which looks easiest.
I bought coffee oil which supposedly gives the "free smells", and now my larder smells of coffee haha.
Got the recipe from here, but it's been on so many blogs.
225g unsalted butter, softened
200g brown sugar (on hindsight maybe if I used normal sugar it'll be more crunchy?)
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp coffee oil
1 egg
Seeds from 1 vanilla pod
1/4 cup oats, processed to bits in a chopper
1/4 cup ground almond
LOTS of semi-sweet chocolate chips
300g self-raising flour (I used normal flour + 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp baking soda)
I got my son to help me out, and he made pancakes, he said. Took out spoonfuls and he rolled them out. More like grubs!

Which is the real famous amos? ;)

- At least 2 hours or the night before, beat egg with vanilla and coffee oil to infuse. Refrigerate.
- Beat butter, sugar and salt to combine. I used normal wooden ladle, no mixer needed. Beat in egg and stir in the processed oats, ground almond and sifted flour. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts, if any.
- I rolled into cookie balls (1 tsp each) and put on the baking tray. They don't spread much, so it's okay to put more on a tray. Bake at 180 degrees Celcius for about 12 to 14 minutes depending on size of cookie.

For uncle & everyone, he says :)
The one on the left is mine, the one on the right is the real deal. It's not as sweet, which is a good thing, but it's a good cookie nonetheless! This should be my fool proof go-to crunchy chocolate chip cookie recipe.
