First Ever Trip Away From Junior

I went KL a week ago for a work conference invitation. I was just an observer, so it was relaxing for me hehe. Free trip!

But it was a dreaded trip.

Because for the first time ever, I was going to leave behind my precious breastfed (albeit partially) baby, and that is heartwrenching for both baby and mother. I don't know how heartwrenching it is for baby but definitely for mommy! I have become so used to the pattern of cuddling him while feeding him to sleep, then I get sleepy too from all those sleepy hormones released while breastfeeding, and bedtime for me is 10-ish.

But being away from baby, I couldn't sleep! Like really tossing and turning on the bed. Both nights I slept after midnight, close to 1am. It was tiring. Pumping was okay, I woke up in the wee hours of the morning to pump, wasn't really sleepy after that. It has been ages since I can't fall asleep quickly.

The conference was good, food's good. Food's almost always good in Malaysia haha! I didn't go round KL at all cos travelling alone is kinda scary, and thankfully there's a shopping mall with the hotel building so I got bottled water and all from there.

The hotel room is not bad either. I was on the 28th floor (so high!!) and the view is quite amazing! The most amazing part is the kitchenette with a pretty big fridge for a hotel room and a FREEZER yippeedeedoo!! Milk storage heaven!

This place seems like a good place for families, but it's far from my normal KL area, Bukit Bintang. But if you drive I think it's okay.

Now for some iPhone photos!!

I got these crayons at Changi Airport for Junior. I went into every toy store at both Changi Airport and KLIA looking for Junior's toys but selection isn't wide. But crayons are gonna be fun!!

Here's my room, before I messed it up hahaha. Not bad right!

And this is the kitchenette area, fridge, microwave and with some cutlery too in the cupboards! Awesome!

Aaaand the winner of them all, freeeeezeerrrrr!!! Yay! No need to worry about milk storage! There's plenty right in my own room!

The view from my room. KLCC is so far away sobsob. Oh wells not like I'll go there alone anyway.

We were brought to this observatory where M'sia has their moon sighting to ascertain start of the Islamic calendar months. This is in Negeri Sembilan.

Posters on planets! ALL in Malay. Seriously had problems understanding. I have to re-read to get it. And planet names omg! Planet names in Malay!!

A little hands-on display to grasp a sense of density of the planets. Again, planet names in Malay! At that moment I totally forgot what's the second planet from the Sun, in Malay it's called Zuhal and I was like wondering what the heck is Zuhal so it's Venus apparently hahahaha.

The observatory tower which we'll go up and see the moon if weather is good.

The telescope! But too bad when they opened the dome it started raining. Oh wells.

So if you guys are interested, the hotel I stayed is Sunway Putra Hotel, used to be Legend Hotel. Near Chow Kit or whatever, and beside PWTC and near LRT too.

Came back on Wednesday, Husband and Junior waiting for me at the airport. Junior just woke up when I met him, and there wasn't a hint of excitement seeing me -_- Oh wells. He warmed up to me later haha. Husband says Mama cannot leave her boys behind anymore. Both are lost without her. Awww :))) I'll try not to, sweethearts! ♥

Daiso Ramekins

Finally finally went to Daiso!! Wanted to go there for ages already! The first thing I came in, went to the cooking section. Found my ramekins! But they're not white. Oh wells. Can't be choosy for $2 ramekins! There were white ones, but super small white ramekins. And pie tarts too! Oooh so tempting! But I don't know when I'll make tarts hurhur. Actually I'm still thinking what I should bake using these ramekins. I remember having one of those "I wish I had ramekins right now" moments but I can't remember when. Maybe when I was making lava cake . Daiso is evil. It's so cheap you just feel like coming back again! Oh and did I mention there's a $2 weighing scale?! Measures up to a kilo but that's quite alright for baking isn't it! I mean, $2!! Dirt cheap lah. Not sure about the accuracy though. Didn't do much cleaning last weekend, very much spent lazing around at home just like what weekends should be like. I love being at ho...

Stir Fried Udon

My baby loves this! Recipe adapted from here . 1 onion, sliced 3 cloves garlic, minced 2 packets udon noodles 1 carrot, julienned  250g mushrooms 2 chicken fillet, sliced 2 stalks spring onions 3 tbsp dark soy sauce 2 tbsp oyster sauce 1 tbsp sushi vinegar (replacement for mirin) 2 tsp brown sugar 1 tsp artificial vinegar Recipe doesn't call for onion and garlic but those are pretty much base ingredients for stir fries so might as well. Made this for quick lunch for the kids since they were home alone.

Chicken Rice (just the rice)

Need to jot this down! I have an earlier recipe for Hainanese Chicken Rice but this version is without proper chicken stock hence it's fuss free. Chicken Rice (just the rice) Skins from several boneless chicken thighs 2 tbsp sesame oil 1 lemongrass, bruised 1 onion, sliced 8 garlic cloves, pounded 2 inches ginger, pounded 2 cups rice, washed 3 cups water + 2 cubes chicken stock 1/2 tsp salt 5 knots of pandan leaves Fry the chicken skin until slightly crispy and the oils ooze out, together with the sesame oil. Add in the lemongrass and onions and fry until golden. Add in garlic and ginger. Add in rice and fry for a few minutes before adding the chicken stock water, salt and pandan leaves. Let it come to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer and let it cook for about 15 minutes. I used 4 cups water instead and it was kinda soggy so I'm guessing 3 cups should be sufficient. Also, cooking the rice in a pot is way easier than having to transfer into a rice cooker. Chili for Chicken R...
