Day Off with Baby Boy

Took the day off yesterday cos my mum had to take care of her baby boy (HAHA) so I took care of mine :) It was the first time we sent him to school. We went to work cos I had to settle some slides even though I was on leave, and later I fetched him from school.

Junior was so bubbly and happy :) Love seeing him so carefree and enjoying life. After I settled work stuff, we took the public transport like he has longed wanted, so it was the bus and train!

Junior entertained mama's selfies hahahaha :)

We stopped by the Lego shop too to get more parts for his building Lego collection.

Waiting for the train to come! And yes I got the reserved seat woohoo!

By the time we reached our MRT stop, he was tired so we too a taxi home instead of another bus. He too said he was tired. Aww my poor little boy. Almost fell asleep in the taxi.

But once he reached home, he has a sudden release of energy and was off singing and talking again. We did his Lego set, sooo difficult to get his attention to find the pieces that I need!! Have to work on his concentration skills.

Totally awesome Lego set don't you think!! Only $28. Haha. My brother says my son is spoilt.

Later we baked a batch of butter almond cake with chocolate chips (half recipe, i.e. 113g butter only) because my little baker wanted to bake for abah :) As usual, he took out the butter, wooden ladle, sift and chocolate chips as a way of forcing me to bake. Since I love crusts for my cakes, I used my mini loaf pan and got 5 loaves. Not too much, not too little.

He's now very much into singing, though most songs I don't really know. But he can follow the e-i-e-i-o part of Old McDonald, and we feel so relived to hear him speak. He does speak but it's not clear, but me being his parent, it's totally cute. Had a really good time with my boy yesterday, wish I could do it more often and with The Husband around too. Simple things yet so much fun.

Oh! Bill is in since we've used the dryer. Seems like the bill didn't change much! That's really good to know. I've also bought for the family essential oils and a diffuser to hopefully get our health better through natural remedies. It's very expensive though, but good things don't come cheap.

CNY Bakes

Back from the long weekend! Spent two days fully at home, cooking and baking. So happy. Day 1 was sindhi briyani and Almond London . Day 2 was ayam lemak cili padi and a batch of almost Famous Amos chocolate chip cookies , but I split the batter into 2: hazelnut, white chocolate, cranberry combination and hazelnut, dark chocolate chip combination. I made the cranberry ones first, they taste awesome. But after I ate the chocolate chip one, say bye bye to cranberry! Nothing beats chocolate. And the white chocolate chips somehow dissolved into the batter, melted. What to do, it's just white chips from Redman. I should try a better brand instead.  Happy new year indeed!

White Chocolate Cranberry Oatmeal Bars

I love these! It's like a blondie but to make me feel less guilty, there's oatmeal. Was supposed to make these and freeze for easy morning breakfasts, but seems like they ran out pretty quickly that it didn't require that much freezing. Original recipe here . I made these almost three months ago and I still think about making these again and again. White Chocolate Cranberry Oatmeal Bars 2 1/2 cups old fashioned oats 2 cups flour 1 1/2 cups brown sugar 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon vanilla 2 large eggs 1 1/4 cups butter melted 1 cups white chocolate chips 1 cup dried cranberries This is like one bowl mix so anything goes. Spread batter in two 8x8 square tins, bake for 22 min at 180 degrees Celsius.

Daiso Ramekins

Finally finally went to Daiso!! Wanted to go there for ages already! The first thing I came in, went to the cooking section. Found my ramekins! But they're not white. Oh wells. Can't be choosy for $2 ramekins! There were white ones, but super small white ramekins. And pie tarts too! Oooh so tempting! But I don't know when I'll make tarts hurhur. Actually I'm still thinking what I should bake using these ramekins. I remember having one of those "I wish I had ramekins right now" moments but I can't remember when. Maybe when I was making lava cake . Daiso is evil. It's so cheap you just feel like coming back again! Oh and did I mention there's a $2 weighing scale?! Measures up to a kilo but that's quite alright for baking isn't it! I mean, $2!! Dirt cheap lah. Not sure about the accuracy though. Didn't do much cleaning last weekend, very much spent lazing around at home just like what weekends should be like. I love being at ho
