Gloom Sunshine Air Marriage

It's a boring, boring day. And gloomy too. I can't decide if gloomy's better than sunny. The sun here's quite bad, and it's not even summer yet. Too glaring! And hermit me spends most of the time in this small little room, maybe my eyes have been too accustomed to the lighting in the room instead. When I go out it's like a vampire in the sun. But seriously! It's bad sun here! At least in Singapore there's clouds to cover the sun. Luckily today and yesterday, it's gloomy and raining after many days of sun. Well the trees need water too once in a few weeks.

Thinking of getting a pair of sunglasses since I forgot to bring mine. Went to a shop yesterday, didn't seem to have many frames to choose from :s And a lot of them are narrow! How to fit a wide, huge face like mine! Some of the frames I tried, the nose bridge didn't even sit on my nose. It was hanging. Bleah.

Feeling pukish again. The air? Or staring too much into the computer? Or my posture? Whatever it is, it sucks. Makes me sleepy too. See. Right now when I'm not typing, my eyes can go all blurry and eyelids drop. Haha!

I was just thinking yesterday, while happily bumming around in the company of Other Half, that two of my closest friends are getting married this year. I smiled. They too will get to enjoy the pleasure of having someone beside you to lean on, or hug or do silly stuff like poke each other's bellies or look for each other's pimples. I wish both of you + partners the best of marriage and happiness :) Very very happy for you :)

Gonna try cooking green curry later. Bought the paste, and the recipe is weird. 50g of paste to 360ml of coconut milk for 200g chicken?!?!?!

CNY Bakes

Back from the long weekend! Spent two days fully at home, cooking and baking. So happy. Day 1 was sindhi briyani and Almond London . Day 2 was ayam lemak cili padi and a batch of almost Famous Amos chocolate chip cookies , but I split the batter into 2: hazelnut, white chocolate, cranberry combination and hazelnut, dark chocolate chip combination. I made the cranberry ones first, they taste awesome. But after I ate the chocolate chip one, say bye bye to cranberry! Nothing beats chocolate. And the white chocolate chips somehow dissolved into the batter, melted. What to do, it's just white chips from Redman. I should try a better brand instead.  Happy new year indeed!

White Chocolate Cranberry Oatmeal Bars

I love these! It's like a blondie but to make me feel less guilty, there's oatmeal. Was supposed to make these and freeze for easy morning breakfasts, but seems like they ran out pretty quickly that it didn't require that much freezing. Original recipe here . I made these almost three months ago and I still think about making these again and again. White Chocolate Cranberry Oatmeal Bars 2 1/2 cups old fashioned oats 2 cups flour 1 1/2 cups brown sugar 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon vanilla 2 large eggs 1 1/4 cups butter melted 1 cups white chocolate chips 1 cup dried cranberries This is like one bowl mix so anything goes. Spread batter in two 8x8 square tins, bake for 22 min at 180 degrees Celsius.

Daiso Ramekins

Finally finally went to Daiso!! Wanted to go there for ages already! The first thing I came in, went to the cooking section. Found my ramekins! But they're not white. Oh wells. Can't be choosy for $2 ramekins! There were white ones, but super small white ramekins. And pie tarts too! Oooh so tempting! But I don't know when I'll make tarts hurhur. Actually I'm still thinking what I should bake using these ramekins. I remember having one of those "I wish I had ramekins right now" moments but I can't remember when. Maybe when I was making lava cake . Daiso is evil. It's so cheap you just feel like coming back again! Oh and did I mention there's a $2 weighing scale?! Measures up to a kilo but that's quite alright for baking isn't it! I mean, $2!! Dirt cheap lah. Not sure about the accuracy though. Didn't do much cleaning last weekend, very much spent lazing around at home just like what weekends should be like. I love being at ho
