I Cooked Lunch Today

Ya lor I did!! Amazing rite! Haha!

To be specific, beef rendang, fried cabbage and rice. Pretty simple hor. Haha. Guess how long I took!!

Two and a half hours. Preparation, cooking, cleaning. Muahahaha.

Ya man that long! Did the whole thing while my mum went to the market. No supervision and no one to ask guidance from. So naturally, I made a few mistakes. Hehe.
  • I forgot which one is ketumbar which one is jintan. So what did I do? I googled both to see what it looks like. Haha! I love google.
  • I used corningware to cook the rempah + meat, then I realised it's too freaking small for me to stir the whole thing, so I had to quickly wash the larger wok which was partially filled with oil so that I can use it instead. Haha. I was cooking the meat halfway then I stopped the fire wahahhaha. I hope it didn't affect the meat. LOL. Hee hee if my mum saw this, confirm get scolding one :p
  • I didn't time when I started to cook the meat.
  • I forgot to cook rice. AHHAHAHA. My mum reminded me when she got back from the market. See lah, too engrossed in making sure the meat + gravy doesn't get burnt.
Yup. So I did that. And cleaning up too. In the past when I helped out my mum in the kitchen, most of the time I'm cutting stuff or washing utensils/cutlery. Wahahaha. I'm not a cooking kinda person. Hehe.

The verdict?

My daddy says it's okay! Woohoo! But my mum said it wasn't salty enough, so she added a bit more salt. I dunoe why my food is usually less salty but I use the same recipe as my mum leh. Haha. But nehmermind!!! My daddy say okay can oredi!! :D

Happy happy :)

CNY Bakes

Back from the long weekend! Spent two days fully at home, cooking and baking. So happy. Day 1 was sindhi briyani and Almond London . Day 2 was ayam lemak cili padi and a batch of almost Famous Amos chocolate chip cookies , but I split the batter into 2: hazelnut, white chocolate, cranberry combination and hazelnut, dark chocolate chip combination. I made the cranberry ones first, they taste awesome. But after I ate the chocolate chip one, say bye bye to cranberry! Nothing beats chocolate. And the white chocolate chips somehow dissolved into the batter, melted. What to do, it's just white chips from Redman. I should try a better brand instead.  Happy new year indeed!

White Chocolate Cranberry Oatmeal Bars

I love these! It's like a blondie but to make me feel less guilty, there's oatmeal. Was supposed to make these and freeze for easy morning breakfasts, but seems like they ran out pretty quickly that it didn't require that much freezing. Original recipe here . I made these almost three months ago and I still think about making these again and again. White Chocolate Cranberry Oatmeal Bars 2 1/2 cups old fashioned oats 2 cups flour 1 1/2 cups brown sugar 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon vanilla 2 large eggs 1 1/4 cups butter melted 1 cups white chocolate chips 1 cup dried cranberries This is like one bowl mix so anything goes. Spread batter in two 8x8 square tins, bake for 22 min at 180 degrees Celsius.

Daiso Ramekins

Finally finally went to Daiso!! Wanted to go there for ages already! The first thing I came in, went to the cooking section. Found my ramekins! But they're not white. Oh wells. Can't be choosy for $2 ramekins! There were white ones, but super small white ramekins. And pie tarts too! Oooh so tempting! But I don't know when I'll make tarts hurhur. Actually I'm still thinking what I should bake using these ramekins. I remember having one of those "I wish I had ramekins right now" moments but I can't remember when. Maybe when I was making lava cake . Daiso is evil. It's so cheap you just feel like coming back again! Oh and did I mention there's a $2 weighing scale?! Measures up to a kilo but that's quite alright for baking isn't it! I mean, $2!! Dirt cheap lah. Not sure about the accuracy though. Didn't do much cleaning last weekend, very much spent lazing around at home just like what weekends should be like. I love being at ho
