Short-Crust Men

Baking again! Haha. This time it's pineapple tarts supposedly for Hari Raya on the 31st, but I think the tarts will all disappear by then. Today my sister helped out!

This was actually baked on Wednesday, but I thought I'll just include it here anyway.

Today's batch of pineapple tarts!

My sister and I made gingerbread men! Macam we celebrate Christmas lydat. Haha! Actually they're not gingerbread lah, it's the short-crust pastry used for the pineapple tarts. Since we didn't have the mould, we cut the dough using the knife instead. Haha. The prettier one's mine! ;p

My sister trying to transfer her short-crust man to the tray. She had to try a few times before getting a nicely cut short-crust man. And then! She had difficulty transferring her pastry man to the tray. Hahah.

Our finally decorated short-crust men and cat before baking! Only had almond and choc chips lah, so deco was minimal. Didn't have choc rice or those colourful beads Carcar likes. The 2 on the right's mine, and the 2 on the left is done by the sister. The orangey layer is actually the pineapple jam! Hahaha

Already baked! Heh. See the parts with pineapple jam! Haha not bad rite. But dunoe how they'll taste like. Shall wait for my brother to get home tomorrow and show him before I eat them.

CNY Bakes

Back from the long weekend! Spent two days fully at home, cooking and baking. So happy. Day 1 was sindhi briyani and Almond London . Day 2 was ayam lemak cili padi and a batch of almost Famous Amos chocolate chip cookies , but I split the batter into 2: hazelnut, white chocolate, cranberry combination and hazelnut, dark chocolate chip combination. I made the cranberry ones first, they taste awesome. But after I ate the chocolate chip one, say bye bye to cranberry! Nothing beats chocolate. And the white chocolate chips somehow dissolved into the batter, melted. What to do, it's just white chips from Redman. I should try a better brand instead.  Happy new year indeed!

White Chocolate Cranberry Oatmeal Bars

I love these! It's like a blondie but to make me feel less guilty, there's oatmeal. Was supposed to make these and freeze for easy morning breakfasts, but seems like they ran out pretty quickly that it didn't require that much freezing. Original recipe here . I made these almost three months ago and I still think about making these again and again. White Chocolate Cranberry Oatmeal Bars 2 1/2 cups old fashioned oats 2 cups flour 1 1/2 cups brown sugar 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon vanilla 2 large eggs 1 1/4 cups butter melted 1 cups white chocolate chips 1 cup dried cranberries This is like one bowl mix so anything goes. Spread batter in two 8x8 square tins, bake for 22 min at 180 degrees Celsius.

Daiso Ramekins

Finally finally went to Daiso!! Wanted to go there for ages already! The first thing I came in, went to the cooking section. Found my ramekins! But they're not white. Oh wells. Can't be choosy for $2 ramekins! There were white ones, but super small white ramekins. And pie tarts too! Oooh so tempting! But I don't know when I'll make tarts hurhur. Actually I'm still thinking what I should bake using these ramekins. I remember having one of those "I wish I had ramekins right now" moments but I can't remember when. Maybe when I was making lava cake . Daiso is evil. It's so cheap you just feel like coming back again! Oh and did I mention there's a $2 weighing scale?! Measures up to a kilo but that's quite alright for baking isn't it! I mean, $2!! Dirt cheap lah. Not sure about the accuracy though. Didn't do much cleaning last weekend, very much spent lazing around at home just like what weekends should be like. I love being at ho
