Wake Up and Smell the Cake

To try this week: Thosai masala Green curry Either kek batik or no bake cheesecake. I am bored. Today's a Sunday, which means my favourite grocery store will close in less than half an hour's time. Bleh. Grocery shopping tomorrow then! I have no idea where to go dating later. I'm bored. Nothing much to cook cos I kinda need to go grocery shopping. If only there were potatoes... I'd be making curry puffs I guess. I already made a little sweet lassi for myself -_-" I'm so bored maybe I should sleep. B O R E D D D D. Blearghhhhhhhhh. Hmm. Maybe I'll watch The Mentalist.

I don't understand. Why do some people think that women wearing high heels to work is a sign of oppression. Apparently, women need to make themselves suffer by wearing uncomfortable heels so that they can look good and be noticed. They won't be noticed solely for their talent and work capabilities. I don't quite agree. I wear heels cos it's pretty! Doesn't everyone like pretty things? Why make yourself look ugly rite. It is in our nature to want to look good. And secondly, heels, with the added height, gives you more confidence. Compare that to wearing flats. There's the relaxed, slack feeling. Not good. Thirdly, it is part of formal wear, just like how suits and ties are part of a man's formal wear too. Stupid people. You know what. Besides the fact that I'm with Other Half, being in London sucks. First, my VPN cannot be accessed. Bloody hell. Now. My laptop has been attacked by a stupid virus that doesn't allow me to even enter Internet. Wahlau eh.

Overdue fotos! Of food. Hahahaha. Kuih tarts ready to be baked!! Pardon the messy jam. Aesthetics was intentionally compromised. And then they were all baked! This was made using a heart shaped cookie cutter. Haha. Variety mah. And as of today. Kuih tart finished. Gone. Habis. Today's meal: briyani!! :))) What I felt was a gargantuan task, yay! I did it! My mum's briyani is still better, though. But not bad for my first time. Haha! So happy!! :)))

Ultimate bummer of the year: freakin' wedding clashes on FFL's wedding. Basket !^%^$#@^#! First, it was two weddings. Then I thought, okay fine, I'll go the nikah for the other one. BUT. BOTH have nikah at the same day around the same time. Doesn't help that the wedding will be held like wayyy east. And then, the most bummerful of them all if there's such a word, another wedding I can't escape. Seriously. I even dreamt that I would be able to skip, but as usual, dreams are opposite of reality :((((( This weekend we might be going Birmingham, and maybe somewhere else too. Wheee!! Hope the weather is nice enough like yesterday! Stop it with the cold winds and rain and grey clouds already! Spring is past due! Speaking of yesterday! After days of not being tourists, we went to the Westminster area for a stroll. Fotos yet to be uploaded. Maybe tomorrow. Lovely blue sky is back! At least for yesterday. And the temperature was bearable! Not the wintery chill! Yayn

Yippee!!! I is so excited! I think I just made what tastes like butter chicken. Muahahahaha. An unlikely mix of rempah, and voila! Sedapness! Well at least I think it's sedap. Have to wait for the verdict from Other Half. Hahahaha. What started off as a need to use the tomatoes before they go bad, to resorting to cook playcheat masak merah (Brahim's Masak Merah instant mix), to mixing in Shan Tikka powder (the masak merah gravy wasn't spicy enough to my liking), then! It tasted a bit (a bit only) like the butter chicken at our friend's house for Hari Raya! So I added like 1 tsp butter. HAHA. Anyhow whack only lah. Teeheehee I think I shall start concocting other recipes as well. HAHA. If it turns out weird then I pity Other Half. Haha!

Aah. Gloomy weather again. Looks like it's gonna rain soon. The weather forecasts says sleet showers tomorrow. Seriously?? Sleet at the end of March?! That's not possible! Where's spring!! I want my blue sky!! Sadness. Yesterday was a stay at home Sunday, I like. Sweet simple Sunday :) Attempted making kuih tart, while Other Half studied. Yes! Kuih tart in London! The 172 pieces made from home have finished, and Other Half wants more. And since we're moving to a house without an oven (sobsob!!), might as well make it here and now before we move to the new, smaller, place tomorrow. We managed to find pineapple jam at our favourite Sainsbury's, made do with a normal cookie cutter instead of the usual pineapple tart mould, and also I had to modify the pineapple jam. Turned out pretty well :) Not the same, but good enough that Other Half loved it. Yay! Mission accomplished. Maybe I'll post up a foto of the tarts and other London fotos once I'm done editing.

I feel useless. One. I can't work. Fine. My fault for not backing up the entire T drive. Even if I did so, I can't back up my emails. Apparently the IP address clashes or something. And I can't change the current one cos it's a shared port. Maybe the new apartment I'll be able to. Hopefully. I get too hungry too often. Like every two hours? Speaking of eating. And food. Brings me to point number two. I can't cook. Yesterday's bee hoon goreng was a disaster :( Simple thing like that also cannot cook. I have a long way to go before I reach my mother's level :( Sucks sucks sucks.

I ate a lot today! And the day's not over yet! 6am: 1 banana, and a bowl of cereal. Normal morning stuff. 10am: a little leftover porridge. Hungry mah. And I needed to clean the pot. Haha. 12noon: one whole oversized portion of 2 piece chicken and fries from the local mama shop version of KFC. LOVE it. Actually I ordered 1 chicken piece and 3 spicy drumlets, for 2 pounds. but he gave me 2 pieces of chicken meal which costs 2.50. So I 'earned' 50p. Haha! At first I kinda hesitated buying it, walked into another shop before this thinking of getting fries only, then I changed my mind. And anyway if I change my mind AGAIN, there's 2 other similar shops I'd pass by. If so happen I missed it cos I was at the other end of the shopping area, then so be it. I'd go home and eat whatever I am going to cook. But. I was just fooling myself. Haha! Went in, got my sinful indulgence hehehe. 3pm: a little bowl of seafood tomyam. Hot from the pot! Washing the car makes you appreciate and care for it more. The pain I felt when little drops of water splashed on the car! Not rain, no. If it were raindrops, it'll be slightly different. I like to see the droplets slide off the windscreen, still in the shape of a round water bubble. But no, it's those really small splashes from the trees or from another car that's too light to move. Argh! The horror! The marks they'll leave behind! Now that we're moving to a smaller and more affordable studio, I won't have my full blown oven anymore :( No more cakes or lasagne! Sian. We have a microwave instead, and I'm on the lookout for recipes using the microwave! Or cooking using just the stove. Like kuih bakar or something. HAHA. Very confident hor! :D Never mind I shall try! I do hope the new studio will be wonderful! :) Ten more so-near-yet-so-far days! Can't wait can't wait! ♥

Today I washed and waxed the car. Haha! Never before man. Though my patience was running out when waxing already -_-" And I didn't do a full cleaning. Next time lah hor. Which won't be anytime soon since next weekend I'll be busy! :) Maybe washing the car can be another of my escapes, just like scrubbing. HAHA. The second first! Yesterday was my first time driving in JB. The fun part was going home. With me and SIL only. Hehe! We detoured, and dunoe went where, and! We ended up at my relative's house. HAHA. From there we were on track already, and stopped by City Square. Okay lah. Doesn't seem as daunting. You just have to avoid getting into any form of accident. I can't wait for you to bring me on our Malaysian road trip :)

I had a very entertaining AAM session today even though we were missing one student and one mentor. Haha. Today the boys were extra noisy, especially one of them. Since we ended earlier, they shared stories, like PSLE results. Haha. And they know who Other Half is. He taught them for a while a few years ago. And! One of the boys is a colleague's son. HAHA. Small world eh. I told them I will be going London for quite some time, I'll have just one more lesson with them before I fly off, then they asked, "Alah! Abeh Kakak tak boleh datang for the camp!!" Yeah, I can't :( I know the camp will be the ultimate bonding session with the students, even if I don't teach them, but I know they'll be wonderful nonetheless. When I come back they should be all psyched up for O Levels! I really hope this batch will do well. They deserve it. The kids are great. I don't know why but I feel cheated when I listen to Aku Cinta Aku Rindu and Makin Aku Cinta. I love duets. These two songs, they were written when the singers were life partners, thus I feel that the songs are extra sweet compared to duets sung by non-couples. Very sweet lyrics, easy to relate to. BUT. Since learning of BOTH couples' divorces, I don't like the songs anymore. Call me weird, but yeah. It does have an effect. It's like, "ah what a lie!" And whatever they sang is not true anymore :( Never mind. I still have my two favourite duets, the most played songs in my iTunes. They were a couple in the movie and in real life, but dunoe if they're still together. But it's Hollywood, a little different. They change partners too often. Plus, they have their on-screen persona that didn't break up. Sugary sweet relationship. HAHA. Very Disney. I can live with that. Haha!

I saw this cute elderly couple on the way to the mosque (HAHA macam lah the mosque is so far away), and when I was going back to office, met them again at the lift. The wife and I were in the lift going to the basement, and at the first floor, she saw her husband outside, just bought lunch from the usual Friday vendors. She waved and smiled at him, he saw and quickly ran to the lift in his kain pelikat just before the lift door closes. Cute lah I tell you. The pakcik was smiling while running. Then they went back home riding their scooter, the wife's hands round the husband's waist. I love to see elderly couples going places and doing things together, happy and in love. I wanna grow old like that with Other Half too. Bliss I tell you :) The scooter ride triggered my memory. Our scooter ride. Langkawi, by the shore. Sunset :) We'll do that again k? ♥

I am thankful to have wonderful SIL & BIL. Thankful for so many things. And my entertainment for the past two days. Haha! And most of all, they look cute together :) Love you both!

Alrighty!! I'm gonna be matron of honour TWICE this year! Yeah! I is very very touched! And excited! Weee!!! So that's three times being bridesmaid!! :) Can't wait! :) Yup it's matron and not maid. Because maid of honour only applies to unmarried bridesmaids. But matron soooo OLD. Like Madam. Oh well. Matron of honour reporting for duty duties!

Yay! Great news! * It* has been despatched! :))) Can't wait! :) I love technology :) This morning's Urban featured the comeback of the bamboo handle classic Gucci. But I like the vintage one the best! Seems like they're not selling it :( I've never been a fan of Gucci but isn't this pretty!!! Sigh. If there were a replica of it, using leather of course, I don't mind getting it! Brandless, even better! Hahaha. I'm in my shopping mood now. Dangerous. And online shopping with cheap shipping to UK is VERY tempting muahahaha :p

Yes. It's only the first day. No chocolates or cookies. It was bearable in office, but when I got home and opened the fridge, it feels automatic to stretch out my hand and grab those cookies! I looked away, and chocolates caught my eye. Argh! The horror! I have resisted temptation and I shall continue to. I can't wait for Tuesday's dinner date with FFL! I am freaking hungry. My sister says I can eat cookies in 10 minutes' time when the clock strikes midnight. Haha! That is true eh. Technically the day IS over. Hmmmmm.... VERY tempting! :D

I am damn terrible. I ate breakfast at 7.30am and at almost 9 I am hungry. Trying to cut down on snacks too. So far my attempt to start cold turkey on chocolates and cookies has failed. I shall start today then. Loads of chocolates and cookies at home! VERY tempting. But. I have to keep my weight in check. Fats are showing at my face! Chubby chubby me :( I smell french fries. Grrrrr. Now I wanna eat french fries :( Small meals and fruits only from now on.

I am sleeeeepy. London time is 2am now. I should be sleeping but I'm not! Sian. I foresee a long jet lag he he he. I've just got for myself the best seat! It's those long reclining chairs that's always taken, plus ! I'm beside the notebook charger! And! Near my gate! Woohoo! I don't want to move!!! I don't care I'm sitting here until, hmm, gate closing! HAHAHAHA. Like real. Reminder to self: pee before boarding. Oh but then again, I'll have an aisle seat later!
