Wake Up and Smell the Cake

Overdue fotos! Of food. Hahahaha. Kuih tarts ready to be baked!! Pardon the messy jam. Aesthetics was intentionally compromised. And then they were all baked! This was made using a heart shaped cookie cutter. Haha. Variety mah. And as of today. Kuih tart finished. Gone. Habis. Today's meal: briyani!! :))) What I felt was a gargantuan task, yay! I did it! My mum's briyani is still better, though. But not bad for my first time. Haha! So happy!! :)))

Ultimate bummer of the year: freakin' wedding clashes on FFL's wedding. Basket !^%^$#@^#! First, it was two weddings. Then I thought, okay fine, I'll go the nikah for the other one. BUT. BOTH have nikah at the same day around the same time. Doesn't help that the wedding will be held like wayyy east. And then, the most bummerful of them all if there's such a word, another wedding I can't escape. Seriously. I even dreamt that I would be able to skip, but as usual, dreams are opposite of reality :((((( This weekend we might be going Birmingham, and maybe somewhere else too. Wheee!! Hope the weather is nice enough like yesterday! Stop it with the cold winds and rain and grey clouds already! Spring is past due! Speaking of yesterday! After days of not being tourists, we went to the Westminster area for a stroll. Fotos yet to be uploaded. Maybe tomorrow. Lovely blue sky is back! At least for yesterday. And the temperature was bearable! Not the wintery chill! Yayn

Aah. Gloomy weather again. Looks like it's gonna rain soon. The weather forecasts says sleet showers tomorrow. Seriously?? Sleet at the end of March?! That's not possible! Where's spring!! I want my blue sky!! Sadness. Yesterday was a stay at home Sunday, I like. Sweet simple Sunday :) Attempted making kuih tart, while Other Half studied. Yes! Kuih tart in London! The 172 pieces made from home have finished, and Other Half wants more. And since we're moving to a house without an oven (sobsob!!), might as well make it here and now before we move to the new, smaller, place tomorrow. We managed to find pineapple jam at our favourite Sainsbury's, made do with a normal cookie cutter instead of the usual pineapple tart mould, and also I had to modify the pineapple jam. Turned out pretty well :) Not the same, but good enough that Other Half loved it. Yay! Mission accomplished. Maybe I'll post up a foto of the tarts and other London fotos once I'm done editing.

I feel useless. One. I can't work. Fine. My fault for not backing up the entire T drive. Even if I did so, I can't back up my emails. Apparently the IP address clashes or something. And I can't change the current one cos it's a shared port. Maybe the new apartment I'll be able to. Hopefully. I get too hungry too often. Like every two hours? Speaking of eating. And food. Brings me to point number two. I can't cook. Yesterday's bee hoon goreng was a disaster :( Simple thing like that also cannot cook. I have a long way to go before I reach my mother's level :( Sucks sucks sucks.

Washing the car makes you appreciate and care for it more. The pain I felt when little drops of water splashed on the car! Not rain, no. If it were raindrops, it'll be slightly different. I like to see the droplets slide off the windscreen, still in the shape of a round water bubble. But no, it's those really small splashes from the trees or from another car that's too light to move. Argh! The horror! The marks they'll leave behind! Now that we're moving to a smaller and more affordable studio, I won't have my full blown oven anymore :( No more cakes or lasagne! Sian. We have a microwave instead, and I'm on the lookout for recipes using the microwave! Or cooking using just the stove. Like kuih bakar or something. HAHA. Very confident hor! :D Never mind I shall try! I do hope the new studio will be wonderful! :) Ten more so-near-yet-so-far days! Can't wait can't wait! ♥

Basket. Plan interrupted. I stupidly cut my right thumb by slicing it over freshly cut tin. How am I supposed to mix the batter and mould the tarts. Bloody blood won't stop bleeding. It's been twenty minutes now. Luckily the blood didn't drip into the butter or mixing bowl. Please hurry and stop the bleeding :'(

Housework Sunday! Helped my mum cook three batches of bee hoon goreng for my sister's event, did all the cleaning up after cooking (I love to clean up!), going to fold clothes and make pineapple tarts after that. Yup pineapple tarts for my tart :) Was supposed to make it next weekend so it'll last longer, but seems like both days I'll be out, and I don't think I'll be able to complete them in the morning. Just have to really keep them for Other Half and make sure I , the cookie monster, don't eat them excessively myself! Haha! Am currently caught by the reading bug! Into fiction lately. Which is a little weird, cos I usually am interested in non-fiction. Just completed one book, after many weeks haha, and I started on an ebook yesterday! Ebooks aren't as good obviously. For saving on the cost of the book, you get mistakes everywhere, language and grammar have been discounted. But for this particular book, I'm more interested in the content, so I guess it

The countdown has gone down to just FOURTEEN days! Two weeks :) Very very happy! :) There's just so many things I wanna do with you. And I've started a little list of what to cook in London :) Only six items so far. Haha! Curry and masak sambal not included okay. Looking forward to Winter Wonderland too even though I can't skate. Hehe.

Our M&M cookies are sedap! HAHAHHA! Okay okay I might be biased. I thought of an amazing gift Other Half can get me! But then my bday or anniversary isn't any time soon. Anniversary. Imagine that :) I have a wedding anniversary now! Coolness.

Today is stay at home day! Can't remember the last time I lepaked at home the whole day. I can't even remember what I did last weekend! Haha. (Now I remember! It was a wedding weekend!) Brother and I were left alone at home, and we're bored. I'm just bored. He's bored of studying. So! We tried baking big cookies! Hehe. Mother always baked small cookies, cos it's easy to keep. But we want big ones! With M&Ms! Took surprisingly quick to get these babies baked. Some fotos! :) The batter. Mixed by Brother. All baked! :) Chocolate chip melted in the cookie!

I am beginning to like this housework and marketing and cooking thing. Getting used to it. And I'm improving! Kinda fun too! Haha of course it's fun! It's part of being a taitai! Hehehe.

I have THE most disgusting looking hands! Fingers all wrinkled like a dried apple, I could feel the skin being pulled when I stretch my hands. It's horrible! My skin gets red and irritated easily, even warm water can be pedih (painful?), and cracks! Omg. This is terrible. It's not like I don't use moisturiser! I use it at least once daily! Sian. I have to find a super moisturised moisturiser when I come here in winter.

Funny, I find doing household chores therapeutic. I don't mind losing sleep for it. How I wish I can have one day in a week to do nothing but chores. Say, 9am to 3pm? Hahaha. And with the sun shining brightly! :p I'd be so happy to hang out clothes to dry! Crisp sun-baked clothes. Aaahh. Nice. I can't wait to wash the bedsheets and mop the floor! :)

Good morning. Yesterday was the first buka at home with home cooked food. No instant food, no tapau-from-parents food. I was actually pretty nervous about cooking. Haha! I have minimal experience, always trying to avoid helping my mum in the kitchen hehehe. So I wrote down the things to buy, and I followed Shez's advice, visualise what I'll be doing. Lunchtime, went to get the ingredients that have not been bought, and after work we rushed home! Haha. Ayam masak lemak cili padi. Didn't turn out like what my mum cooks. Not spicy at all because *someone* didn't want too many cili padi. The gravy was kinda tasteless cos too little salt but I think the main culprit is too much water added. I would like to say in my defence, not me either. Haha! Okay okay, too much excuses. But! Practice makes perfect. This is only the start. HELLO!!! In case you're wondering where I've disappeared... It's because I have no internet at home. Yup. Hence the lack of posts or facebook activities even. Right now I'm at my mum's place freeloading off the internet. Haha! I'm an internet addict! Just came back from a one week break, now is fasting month, soon I'll be flying off with Other Half to Motherland. But I'll be back. To work. Sadly. Oh wells. I shall look forward to the December trip then! :p Life's been good, I've been a pretty sucky homemaker, but Other Half's really patient with me HAHA. I like to take my own sweet time, even hum a tune while I'm at it. I got to do just that, and take EVEN a longer time, today! On medical leave! Official medical leave. I really am sick, fyi. The only thing I regret not doing (I only realised I could've done it but it was late already) is washing the bedsheets & pillow cases. Darn! Such good weather today! Haha I sound like aunty-a
